I spend
so much time
in these words
that it’s
the world
that starts to
sounds like
fiction,
and it’s the
voices in
my head
that I
listen to.
And they
tell me to
stay here.

Lou Rasmus is an independent author from Chicago, IL. His works are largely focused on exploring the meaning of life – or lack thereof – while the themes of love, relationships, and self-loathing are also central to many of his stories. His upcoming novel, Primrose Isle, will be his third self-published title. Grapefruit Juice, a collection of bitter poems and short stories, and DEAD RED FISH, his semi-autobiographical debut novel about a young man coming to age on a road trip with his childhood friends, are also available on Amazon. I can’t even make up the shit that happens in reality. So stay right where you are and work on your own words. We like them.

I can relate to this on so many levels, and at one point in my life, I was so deep in this sort of a situation, it was actually scary.

I think I’d rather stay in one of my alternate worlds with the voices, ha ha. It is true that today’s real world seems like fantasy, dark fantasy.
