Primrose Isle finds data analyst Mickey Chesson with the winning ticket to the Paradise Lottery, where he is awarded a private island rather than money. Only, it’s not until after he wins that the full reality of the situation comes to light: going to the island means sacrificing his life as he knows it.

In the week leading up to his departure, Mickey deliberates over the premise. Will he and his wife, Sylvie, go to the island and leave behind everything? Will Mickey and Sylvie’s closest friend, Jett, try to stop the couple from abandoning him?

Primrose Isle confronts all this and more as the three main characters grapple with the true value of perpetual paradise.

Grapefruit Juice

A collection of poems and short stories, Grapefruit Juice is a look at life through the eyes of a young adult who’s trying to understand his place in the world. From the bedroom to the bar to the beach, Lou Rasmus finds himself in this book reflecting on the feelings and experiences of the intimate parts of life, while wondering what it all means. The answer is unclear.

The debut novel by Lou Rasmus, this semi-autobiographical work is a coming to age story about a young man, Lou, as he sets out on a road trip from Massachusetts to Florida with his two hometown friends, Jerry and Mazz. In search of The Great Spring Break, the three friends embark on a frenzied, drug-and-alcohol-fueled journey down the east coast, meeting old friends along the way and finding themselves in trouble more often than not. All the while, introspective Lou finds himself looking for more than just a drive to the beach. As the days wear on and the three young men find themselves closer to the end of the road, Lou grapples with feelings of love, happiness, and the meaning of life altogether.
