A collection of poems and short stories, Grapefruit Juice is a look at life through the eyes of a young adult who’s trying to understand his place in the world. From the bedroom to the bar to the beach, Lou Rasmus finds himself in this book reflecting on the feelings and experiences of the intimate parts of life, while wondering what it all means. The answer is unclear.
DEAD RED FISH
The debut novel by Lou Rasmus, this semi-autobiographical work is a coming to age story about a young man, Lou, as he sets out on a road trip from Massachusetts to Florida with his two hometown friends, Jerry and Mazz. In search of The Great Spring Break, the three friends embark on a frenzied, drug-and-alcohol-fueled journey down the east coast, meeting old friends along the way and finding themselves in trouble more often than not. All the while, introspective Lou finds himself looking for more than just a drive to the beach. As the days wear on and the three young men find themselves closer to the end of the road, Lou grapples with feelings of love, happiness, and the meaning of life altogether.
Lou Rasmus is an independent author from Chicago, IL. His works are largely focused on exploring the meaning of life – or lack thereof – while the themes of love, relationships, and self-loathing are also central to many of his stories.
His short fiction has been published in print by Raw Earth Ink and Manic Raven Press, while a handful of his poems have been featured online by various publications, including SilverLeaf Poetry, UntwineMe USA, The Grey Scene, and others.
Rasmus has also released two self-published titles: Grapefruit Juice, a collection of bitter poems and short stories, and DEAD RED FISH, his semi-autobiographical debut novel. Both of which are available on Amazon.
